A Letter From Our Doctors

Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).  We all have a role and a responsibility during this time to protect ourselves and those around us.  We understand that the incubation period (time from exposure to onset of symptoms) averages 4-7 days.  However, we also know that this virus can be spread person to person before symptoms develop.  Our local, state, and national health officials and government leaders have outlined recommendations for us to follow as they work to contain this virus and “flatten the curve” of this infection.

The health and safety of our Clients, Patients, and Staff is our top priority.  With the effects of this outbreak being felt more each day, we wanted to reach out and notify our valued clients about the measures we’re taking to protect everyone’s health.

We understand that the best way to prevent the spread of this disease is to limit our contact with each other for the next 2-3 weeks.  To accommodate this, we have made the following changes to our clinic policies.

Appointments:

  • We have increased the time allotted for each appointment so that we can limit the traffic within our hospital and have time to adequately clean between appointments.  Unfortunately, this means that we can see fewer routine appointments during each day.  Please consider booking any non-urgent appointments 2 or more weeks out if possible.

  • We will perform all examinations and procedures in our treatment room away from owners to limit contact between people.  Please call when you arrive, and we will be glad to pick your pet up at the car to further limit your exposure.  We are happy to take the history by phone and discuss treatment options in the same manner.  You are more than welcome to wait in your car during your pet’s appointment or schedule a drop off appointment and pick your animal up later in the day.

  • Routine surgeries and dental cleanings are still being scheduled and performed as usual.  These procedures are done on a drop-off basis normally and pose little risk of increased exposure.

  • We will continue to provide same-day appointments for sick or injured animals, and we always have a doctor on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for our client's emergencies.  Please never hesitate to call us.

Telemedicine:

To further minimize contact between people, we are handling everything that we can over the phone or by mail. If you have a general question or are in quarantine and are concerned about your pet, we are more than willing to discuss and develop a plan by phone.

Pet Food and Medication Refills:

  • We are happy to send any medication, heartworm preventative, or flea and tick preventative by mail or deliver to your car.  You can request a refill by phone, or on our websites at Brooksidevets.com or Cedarheightspetclinic.com

  • If you are in need of pet food, give us a call from the parking lot, and we can bring it to your car.

Nursing Home and Clients in Quarantine:

  • For our clients in nursing homes or in quarantine.  Please let us know if you have any needs, and we will do our best to help.

  • We are currently offering pet food or medication delivery with minimal to no contact.

Boarding or Grooming:

  • If your pet needs to be groomed or boarded, we can come pick up your pet if we are able to do so safely.  Please call us to make arrangements.

  • Boarding and Grooming Pets:

  • We will contact you by phone to check your pet in the day before they arrive.

  • We request that you call us when you arrive to the parking lot, and we will send a staff member out to get your pet.

  • We request that you call to schedule a pick up time when you return.  We will check your pet out by phone and deliver them back to your vehicle.

We encourage staff and clients alike to practice common-sense health precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), such as frequent hand washing and using alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol to stay healthy.

Our staff has been notified to stay home if they are exhibiting any signs of illness, and we ask clients to do the same.

All of these safeguards and precautions are made with you in mind. They are based on recommendations from local, state, and federal health officials whose experts are working tirelessly to safeguard our health.

We want to do all we can to continue to ensure you and your four-legged family members receive the care they need.
